Special acts of worship in the
British Isles and the empire
The British empire
The first set of lists gives English and British acts of special worship which were also observed in the overseas empire, reaching from the mid seventeenth to the mid twentieth centuries. They provide the names of the colonies, dominions and other territories where observances are known to have occurred, with their dates. It is likely that further territories could be added.
The further lists are for particular territories (and lists for more territories will be added as research continues) These lists contain acts of worship that are known to have been appointed by authorities within each territory for regional causes, as well as their observances of British occasions. Given limitations in in access to sources, it is probable that some occasions have been missed. Please notify additions and corrections to p.a.williamson {at} durham.ac.uk
